Health & Safety Charter

Patient Safety Charter

Our practice prioritises patient safety in all aspects of healthcare delivery, objective setting, procedure development, and equipment purchases. We foster an open and fair culture where team members discuss work challenges for the benefit of our patients. For patient safety, we:

  • Follow the latest infection prevention guidelines, including those from NHS England.
  • Use single-use dental instruments or sterilise them after use.
  • Decontaminate work areas, including the dental chair, handheld equipment, and cupboard handles, between patients.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, including clinical clothing and restricted jewellery wearing.
  • Monitor the quality of practice water and disinfect dental unit waterlines.
  • Handle and dispose of waste according to current regulations with appropriate carriers.
  • Seek expert advice if a team member may have a blood-borne infection, ensuring they have an occupational health examination and follow role-specific advice.
  • Train all team members in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, adhering to regularly reviewed practice safeguarding procedures.

We operate a clinical governance system with integrated risk management to identify, assess, analyse, and manage all risks and incidents, aiming for continuous improvement in our care and service.

The Practice Manager holds overall responsibility at the practice. The team is supported through regular meetings, staff training, personal development, and appraisals. We welcome questions, comments, and suggestions from patients.

Please contact the Practice Manager if you have any questions or concerns.
